Hello, Brave Ones!

July always feels like a new season to me.

The days are longer. Families gather. Flags wave. Children run through sprinklers. Fireworks light up the night sky. And in the midst of the celebration, I find myself asking an important question in my heart:

What does it mean to be grateful for America from a biblical perspective?

As followers of Jesus, our ultimate citizenship is in Heaven according to Philippians 3:20. How cool is that?

Yet God has placed each of us in a specific time and place for a reason. Acts 17:26 tells us that God determined the times and places where people would live.

Wowzers! Do you know what that means? None of us are here by accident!

When I look at the United States, I see a nation that has experienced extraordinary blessings.

We have enjoyed freedoms that much of the world has only dreamed about—freedom to worship, freedom to speak, freedom to gather, and freedom to share our faith openly.

These freedoms are gifts, not guarantees.

Scripture reminds us that "Every good and perfect gift is from above" (James 1:17). The blessings we enjoy are not simply the result of human achievement. They are evidence of God's kindness and mercy.

Saying, "Thank You, Jesus," brings so much peace.

As Americans, gratitude should come naturally—not because our nation is perfect, but because God has been gracious to us.

The Bible never presents any earthly nation as perfect.

Not Israel.

Not Rome.

Not any kingdom in history.

Every nation is made up of imperfect people who need God's wisdom, mercy, and grace.

America is no different, Brave Ones.

As believers, our responsibility is not merely to celebrate our country.

Our responsibility is to pray for it too.

Paul instructed believers to pray for kings and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1–2). Why? Because prayer invites God's wisdom, peace, and guidance into the life of a nation.

This July, perhaps one of the most patriotic things we can do is pray.

Pray for our leaders.

Pray for our churches.

Pray for families.

Pray for unity.

Pray for revival.

Pray for reconciliation.

Pray that hearts would turn toward Jesus.

The Bible teaches that freedom is not simply the ability to do whatever we want.

True freedom is the ability to become who God created us to be.

Galatians 5:13 says:

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love."

What a beautiful reminder.

Freedom is not just a privilege.

It is a responsibility.

God calls us to use our freedom to love, serve, encourage, and bless others.

As we enter July, I believe many of us are stepping into a new season.

Some are welcoming new babies.

Some are grieving losses.

Some are moving across the country.

Some are beginning new jobs.

Some are facing challenges they never expected.

Yet through every season, God's faithfulness remains the same.

Nations rise and fall.

Circumstances change.

Seasons come and go.

But Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

That truth gives me hope. He is a God who never changes and means what He says and says what He means.

We can trust Him, Brave Ones!

My Prayer for America

Lord Jesus,

This July, we thank You for the blessings You have poured out on our nation.

Your Word says,

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." — Psalm 33:12

So we ask You to turn our hearts back to You, Papa God.

Where there is pride, bring humility.

Where there is division, bring supernatural healing.

Where there is confusion, bring complete truth.

Where there is fear, bring Your peace.

Where there is darkness, let Your people shine brightly for You.

Teach us to use our freedom not for selfishness, but for love.

Not for comfort alone, but for courage.

Not for silence, but for truth spoken with kindness and grace.

May our homes become places of prayer.

May our churches become places of repentance, healing, and renewal.

May our children grow up knowing that true freedom is found in Jesus Christ alone.

And may we remember Your promise, Lord:

"If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." — 2 Chronicles 7:14

Papa God, begin with us.

Revive our hearts.

Heal our land.

And let America be a place where Your light, love, and truth are seen again.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank You, Lord, for placing us here in this season, at this time in history.

May we steward the freedoms we have been given well, love our neighbors deeply, and never forget that our greatest hope is not found in a nation, but in our Savior.

Amen!
