Be Still and Know: Finding God’s Peace in the Quiet
Dear Brave Ones,
In a world that never seems to slow down, our souls can start to feel like a crowded room—full of noise, distractions, and thoughts all talking at once. And somewhere in that swirl, we wonder why it feels hard to hear God.
It’s not that He isn’t speaking.
It’s that our hearts are often too busy to listen.
God’s voice is not found in the chaos. Scripture reminds us He often speaks in a “still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). And that means if we want to hear Him clearly, we have to become still enough to notice.
Not perfect.
Not polished.
Just still.
Creating that kind of inner stillness doesn’t happen by accident. It’s something we gently practice. And it is harder than it looks. It is choosing to be purposeful in seeking that inner stillness.
For me, it looks like slowing down long enough to check in with my soul each day. I bring everything into the light—especially the things I’d rather ignore. I talk to God honestly about what I’m feeling.
The fear.
The worry.
The frustration.
The sadness.
The pain and disappointment.
These emotions aren’t “bad”—they’re signals. Little heart whispers, letting us know something inside needs attention. They often show up first when we’ve drifted, even slightly, out of alignment with God’s truth.
So instead of pushing them away, I lean in and ask questions.
“Lord, why am I feeling this?”
“What’s underneath this reaction?”
“What are You wanting to show me?”
And then—this is the brave part—I surrender. COMPLETELY!
I release what I’m holding too tightly.
I confess what needs to be confessed.
I invite God back into the places I tried to manage on my own.
And slowly… something beautiful happens.
The noise quiets.
The striving softens.
My heart begins to feel like a peaceful place again.
A sanctuary.
Not because life suddenly becomes easy, but because God’s presence becomes clearer.
That’s where we meet Him.
Not in perfection—but in stillness.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Not strive and know.
Not fix everything and know.
Be still… and know.
It is one of my very favorite verses. Just saying it out loud brings peace to my anxious heart.
So today, if your heart feels loud or crowded, don’t be discouraged. Just begin. Take a few quiet moments. Breathe. Invite Him in.
Sometimes just saying, “Jesus,” brings all the peace I need.
You don’t need hours.
You just need willingness.
Because the truth is—God isn’t far away.
He’s waiting in the quiet. He’s a whisper away, Brave Ones!
